35km Endurance March in Botswana
Kenny
Morris was born in Glasgow and brought up in the small country village
of Uplawmoor. Surrounded by the countryside it followed that much of
his activities were outdoors, where weekends were spent camping, fishing
at the local loch, or participating in sport. No matter what the weather,
football was always on the agenda, as was motocross, hockey and weight
training. He was introduced to Karate at an early age courtesy of his
father, Tommy Morris, who was Scotland's first karate black belt. School
holidays were often spent at scout camps, working on the local farms,
or hill walking and camping with the family.
At
age seventeen weight training became his main focus and his goal was
to become Mr. Scotland which he duly achieved in 1992 at the age of
25. He then went on to represent Scotland at the World Championships
in Austria. During this time he was also running his own gymnasium and
began to find it increasingly difficult to split his time effectively
so he made the decision to retire from bodybuilding.
In
1995 he took a well-earned holiday in Scotland. The scenery was stunning
and once again the beauty of the hills had him captivated. A good friend
who was an experienced and qualified mountaineer took him under his
wing and spent countless hours teaching him the art of map reading.
The Ochil Hills will always remain a favourite of his and they have
made him realise that climbing the Munro's and Tops is the only real
way to truly appreciate the beauty of Scotland.

In
1996 Kenny joined the Territorial Army and after many strenuous treks
in atrocious weather on the infamous Brecon Beacons he passed the SAS
selection course. He later transferred to 15 Company 4th Battalion Parachute
Regiment. In February 2003 he was compulsorily mobilised and saw active
service in Iraq.
As
he became more and more involved in leading groups of people on the
hills and mountains he decided to work towards becoming a mountain leader
which he achieved in October 2000. His military survival skills have
been honed in the UK, Continental Europe including Norway, the USA,
Africa and Iraq.
